New Delhi: Air India gets into damage control mode after CNN-IBN reported how a pilot error could have endangered lives of 113 passengers on board its Dubai-Pune flight. The national carrier is now rushing to improve flight safety procedures. It has appointed new training heads and made some changes in its training manual.

CNN-IBN has accessed the final Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) report which details an averted disaster on Air India Flight- from Dubai to Pune on July 26, 2010.

The co-pilot, the report says wasn't trained to handle emergencies and had the commander of the flight who had taken a toilet break, not been able to rush back, the result could have been catastrophic.
