The villagers expect CM Yogi will shower them with more development work after seeing how much they are in love with the Saffron colour.

Lucknow: That saffron is the favourite colour of UP CM Yogi Adityanath is not hidden from anyone: a case in point is the Gram Panchayat in Etawah painting toilets in the village under Swachh Bharat Scheme in the very colour to please CM Yogi.

The villagers expect CM Yogi will shower them with more development work after seeing how much they are in love with the Saffron colour.

The residents of Amritpur village in Etawah have till now painted 100 out of 350 toilets in saffron which were constructed by the district administration under the Swachh Scheme.

As per the local people, the decision to paint the toilets in saffron was taken unanimously and nobody objected to the idea.

Speaking to media, Gran Pradhan, Ved Pal said, “Out of 350, 100 toilets were painted saffron and the remaining will be painted soon. The decision to paint the toilets in this colour was not taken under any kind of pressure from anyone, it was a unanimous decision. We all know our CM’s favourite colour is Saffron, all the villages hope that the state government will launch more development schemes in the village after seeing our love for the saffron colour.”

On January 5, the walls of Hajj House near the Vidhan Sabha were painted saffron, inviting criticism from the opposition. The boundary wall of the Hajj House was painted in green and white earlier.

Secretary of the UP State Hajj Committee, RP Singh, blamed the contractor for painting the “non-prescribed” shade. “The wall colouring work was going on and the contractor was told to paint a different colour, but the contractor coloured the walls in a different shade,” he said in a press release.

A day later, it once again got a new coat of paint - this time off-white – as the authorities went in damage control mode.

Actor, Prakash Raj had also taken a jibe at CM Yogi Adityanath and had tweeted if changing colours was vikas? His tweet was also re-tweeted by ex-UP CM and Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav.

The walls of the CM’s Secretariat, also known as Annexe, were coloured Saffron in October 2017. In October the same year, Yogi launched a fleet of 50 busses which were coloured Saffron.
