BANGALORE: The 3-day fast by India Against Corruption at Freedom Park came to an abrupt end on the second day after Anna Hazare decided to end his fast in Mumbai. “We have achieved more in the last 10 months than ib first 40 years of Independence,” said Ashwin Mahesh, a volunteer. The spirit of protestors did not fizzle as they were insistent that the Lokpal battle was won. India Against Corruption (IAC) will now focus on issues beyond the Lokpal Bill. “We have got the Lokpal Bill. That is what we wanted,” said Mahesh. He added they would watch the developments on the Lokpal Bill and will monitor its implementation for six months.Day 1 of the fast had seen a less turnout and the organisers were expecting a stronger turnout for the Jail Bharo Campaign. That however, seems to have been suspended along with the fast by Anna in Mumbai. However, IAC is confident of having made an indelible impression on the public through the protest.  “We now know it is possible for the citizens to place demands in front of the government and can be heard,” said Mahesh.
