Eight persons were killed and four injured when a vehicle rammed into an overcrowded autorickshaw in which they were travelling on Ranchi-Gumla road under Bero police station, police said.
The incident occurred when the vehicle hit the autorickshaw from behind at a place about 30 km from Ranchi on Tuesday night, Superintendent of Police Surendra Kumar Jha said.
While five persons died on the spot, three others succumbed to their injuries this morning, he said. All the injured were admitted to hospital.
