Seven children rescued from a private balashram in Nabarangpur were brought back here on Tuesday. They belong to Balliguda, Kotagarh and Tumudibandh in the district.
The Nabarangpur administration had rescued them from Tota Sahi there, the previous day. The children aged between 6 and 7 years alleged that they were denied proper food and other basic amenities.
Reports said Child Welfare Care Unit of Nabarangpur had rescued four children while they were fleeing to Papapadahandi, about five days back. Based on the information given by them, the administration rescued the seven and shifted them to Utkal Balashram at Singhiguda.
Later, on the request of the Nabarangpur Collector, additional district social welfare officer Subharansu Maharana and Childline member Alok Tripathy left for Nabarangpur to get the children back, said Phulbani District Social Welfare Officer Pranati Patra. They have been put up at Gopabandhu Balashram at Kendupadar in Phulbani town and their parents intimated, added Patra.
