50 injured as bus overturns

KOLLAM: More than 50 people were injured when the bus they were travelling overturned after losing control at Karalimukku, near Sasthamcotta, on Monday at 9.30 a.m.The Pathanamthitta-bound private bus from Chavara lost control when the driver tried to avoid a pothole on the road. Two passengers, Sankarapillai, 46, and his wife Ambika, 37, were seriously injured and admitted to a private hospital in the city. According to eyewitness accounts, the over-speeding bus hit a coconut tree before falling around six feet down. Most of the injured were students of the Devasom Board College, Sasthamcotta.
