HYDERABAD: The Socio Economic and Caste Census 2011 will be taken up in four phases in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits.The first Phase will be held from November 17 to 27, second from November 28 to December 8, third from December 9 to 19 and the fourth from December 20 to 30.
GHMC special commissioner Navin Mittal has held a meeting with additional commissioners for UCD and finance, and zonal and deputy commissioners on the exercise. The special commissioner has explained that the main purpose of conducting SECC is to identify those living Below the Poverty Line (BPL). An economic census was conducted in 1931 but not after the world war. "The Socio Economic and Caste Census will help authorities know the caste composition of the city for deciding political reservation.''

Mittal asked the deputy commissioners to ensure that the appointment of supervisors and enumerators are given proper training at the 'charge centres' to do their assigned task meticulously.
