KOCHI: Three major infrastructure projects of the Kochi Corporation, completed by utilising the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) funds, will be inaugurated on Friday.These include the Puthenpalam bridge at Elamkulam, the renovated Edappally- High Court Road and the Sahodaran Ayyappan (SA) Road from Vyttila to Pallimukku. The work of the Puthenpalam that began in June 2008 was completed spending Rs 3.5 crore. The bridge has a width of 7.5 metres and a length of 33 metres. The work of the Edappally-High Court stretch was completed on November 15. The Rs 17.34 crore work mainly aimed at the resurfacing the road and renovation of footpaths and drains. The work on SA Road from Pallimukku to Vyttila was completed by utilising Rs 9.71 crore from JNNURM.However, the Sahodaran Ayyappan Road West Extension project is yet to be completed. The plan was to widen the road to 22 metres and straighten it to avoid traffic jams. There was also a proposal to develop SA Road into a model road, connecting it with Church Landing Road so that vehicles can move to the central city commercial area easily.
