BANGALORE: Three persons of a family were killed on the spot and two sustained grave injuries after their Santro car rammed into a lorry parked on the road. The incident was reported at Avalahalli Bridge near K R Pura on NH-4, on the outskirts of the city on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Manoj, 27, who was driving the car, his mother Anantha Lakshmi, 58, and her sister Geetha, 45. The injured are Satyanarayan, Manoj’s father, and Saraswathi, mother of Manoj’s friend Chandrashekhar. All are native of Bellary and were returning from Tirupati when the mishap occurred. Manoj was reportedly employed at a software company and had resigned the job two months ago. He was staying with Chandrashekhar in Ramamurthynagar and looking out for a job.According to the police, kin of the duo had arrived in the city on Thursday and had gone to Tirupati and Sri Kalahasti on Friday. On Saturday night, they were travelling to the city and had planned to go to Manoj’s residence. Near Avalahalli Bridge, a lorry, under repair was parked on the lane next to the road median. Manoj, not noticing the vehicle, rammed the car into the lorry from behind. Three sustained fatal injuries and were killed on the spot, while two were injured and rushed to a hospital.The Avalahalli police have registered a case and arrested the lorry driver for parking the lorry on the road. The bodies were shifted to Hosakote government hospital mortuary.Further investigations are on. Reportedly Manoj’s family had gone to Sri Kalahasti to perform a special puja. It is said that Manoj’s parents were trying hard to find an alliance for him. It is said that many problems had come in the way and had delayed his wedding.
