COIMBATORE: Three students of a panchayat elementary school near Sulur were allegedly sodomised by two youth, police said on Tuesday. Based on a complaint lodged by a parent of one of the victims, the Sulur police registered a case and arrested one of the accused, Kalimuthu (20). A hunt is on for the other accused, Subramaniam, in the case.A victim’s father told Express that the duo were harassing the children over the last one year and the incident came to light only recently.“A teacher happened to hear a conversation between the children about the activities of the two youth. When the teacher further inquired, the children revealed about the torture they were made to undergo.” “They were scared to talk about this as the duo beat them up and threatened them against doing so,” he said. Police said the accused forcibly involved the students in the unnatural act at an unused public toilet located close to the school. “The accused targeted the children while they were returning home from the school in the evening. We have secured one of them and are looking for the absconding man,” Sulur inspector Jayachandran said. After the incident came to light, parents of the victims expressed fear that their children could have contracted sexually transmitted diseases.“My son has been repeatedly falling ill. We are planning to take our children to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for a check-up,” a parent said.
