Mumbai: Blood sample reports of a slain gunman involved in the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai show he had consumed alcohol during the standoff with security forces.
The report submitted shows that one of the terrorists had consumed alcohol, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria said.
Traces of alcohol were found in the samples of the terrorist identified as Javed alias Abu Ali who was killed in a shootout with the NSG commandos at the Hotel Taj.
The tests on Javed's stomach and viscera indicated that he had consumed alcohol and is suspected to have done so while engaging the security forces. Javed and two others had attacked the Hotel Taj in south Mumbai.
However, contrary to reports that the gunmen at Nariman House and Hotels Taj and Oberoi could have consumed narcotics during the gun battle with security forces, no such evidence was found in the reports.
No traces of drugs were found in any of them, he said. Ten terrorists, allegedly Pakistani nationals from the terror group Lashkar-e-Toiba, had carried out the attacks at various locations in south Mumbai in which 166 persons were killed and over 200 injured.
One of the gunmen, Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab, was caught alive and is presently facing trial along with two others for their involvement in the terror strikes.
