HYDERABAD: Unidentified persons stole 1.37 kilograms gold and Rs 4.6 lakh from a bank in Nizamabad district.Police suspect that the theft at Andhra Bank ‘s Jangampally branch’in Bhiknoor mandal might have taken place on Tuesday night but came to light on Thursday as the bank remained shut due to bandh on Wednesday. They entered by removing iron grills of a window on the rear side of the building.”After gaining entry, they had covered one of the CCTV cameras with a blanket while they cut off the other camera’s wires,’’ Sekhar, SI Bhiknoor said.They got the locker room keys from the bank manager’s draw, opened the strong room and stole the 1.3 Kg gold ornaments and `4.62 lakh cash. Police said there was no security guard to take care of the bank. After a complaint from the bank manager Sesha Sai, police registered a case.
