CHENNAI: For those interested in filmmaking, entries for the 12th Bitfilm Festival organised by Bitfilm Networks GmbH, based in Hamburg, Germany, can be submitted by September 1. The entries can be submitted for three categories which include the 3D Space Award (open for films of all genres and styles), made with 3D animation software such as Maya and 3D Studio Max, the FX MIX category, (for films of all genres) which a mix various techniques digitally, eg. 3D animation, 2D animation or live action and the Machinima Category for films of all genres which are shot live inside a computer game or a virtual world like Second Life.This is the first German festival with a competition for films made for viewing on mobile phones and the first worldwide festival with a competition for real-time demos. Interestingly, this festival for digital films will be the first in the world to pay the prize money in Bitcoins, the new digital currency.The festival, which is usually centered in two locations, will take place at Hamburg and Bangalore this year. All entries can be uploaded in digital formats such as QuickTime, MPEG and Windows Media.
