KOCHI: The Ernakulam District Congress Committee on Wednesday celebrated the party’s 126th annivesary here with the leaders stating that the Congress had always stood for secular values and was also instrumental in bringing in development. The history of the Congress is the history of the nation, former minister P Shankaran said while inaugurating the party’s 126th anniversary celebration organised by the Ernakulam District Congress Committee. Sankaran said that the Congress is just not a political party but is an organisation that reflected the aspirations of the people during Independence struggle. Shankaran said that the Congress had always withstood the turmoil within the party. KPCC general secretary Ajay Tharayil said that the party had always stood for religious harmony. DCC president V J Paulose said that all the developments that the country witnessed were the contributions of the Congress. MLAs Hibi Eden, Dominic Presentation, Anwar Saddat and V P Sajeendran, Lino Jacob, Asha Sanal and M Salim were among others present at the function.
