The topic of elections has always been a point of discussion across many films in recent times. Be it a serious one or a satire, elections in films have always attracted the attention of the audience. Recently, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan or Amitabh Bachchan’s 2014 movie Bhoothnath Returns has also emphasised the importance of votes and elections in their manner.
Now, the Telugu actor Sampoornesh Babu, famously called Burning Star, is coming with his film Martin Luther King whose trailer was dropped by the makers on Oct 18. The movie, produced by YNOT Studios, is directed by Pooja Kollur.
The film is a remake of the 2021 Tamil comedy Mandela where Yogi Babu had played the protagonist. The film skyrocketed Yogi Babu’s fame as an actor and the movie won two National Awards.
The trailer suggests that the village is divided into two poles at the onset of elections where the people in the North have a representative to head the village, with the South having one. The schemes of appeasing the minority and needy can be seen presented satirically taking into account the actual events in and around India. As the trailer progresses, the concept of ‘every vote counts’ gets more and more prominent.
Sampoornesh Babu is known for doing parody movies and has made a name for himself from those movies. He has acted in films like Singham 123, a parody of the films in the Singham series, Hrudaya Kalayam, and Cauliflower and has given a cameo in many films. He was also a participant in the Bigg Boss Telugu S01.
Apart from Sampoornesh Babu, the film also stars Sharanya Pradeep, Venkatesh Maha and Naresh.
The movie’s music is provided by Smaran with Puja Kolluru handling the editing of the movie.
