How to Save and Download Facebook Videos
Do you want to save a Facebook video? Facebook doesn't make downloading videos easy. The best that they offer is to allow you to save your videos to your profile so that you can watch them later, but you still need to have an internet connection and be logged into Facebook to view them. Downloading Facebook videos to your computer or device allows you to watch your favorite videos offline or at a later date without having to be logged into the social media site. This wikiHow article teaches you how to download and save Facebook videos directly from the site or use third-party apps and websites to save Facebook videos to your Android or iOS mobile device.

Using Fdown.net

Open Facebook. Tap the Facebook icon in your Apps menu or your Home screen to open Facebook. If you are on a desktop computer, go to https://www.facebook.com/ in a web browser. Log in with your username and password if you are not already logged in.

Navigate to the video you want to save. You can find videos your friends have posted on your wall or on their profile page. You can also find videos in Reels or the Watch section of Facebook. Fdown.net only allows you to download videos that are public. Videos that are set to private cannot be downloaded.

Click or tap ⋯. It's the icon with three dots in the upper-right corner of the video or post. On iPhone and iPad, tap Share below the post instead.

Click or tap Copy Link. It's in the menu that appears when you tap the icon with three dots.

Open Firefox or your preferred web browser. You can use any web browser on your mobile device or computer, but Fdown.net recommends using Firefox. They also have a Google Chrome extension for your computer. You can download Firefox for free from the App Store or Google Play Store on mobile devices, or from https://www.mozilla.org/ on a desktop computer.

Navigate to Fdown.net. To do so, enter https://fdown.net/ in the address bar at the top. Fdown.net is a website that allows you to download Facebook videos for free.

Paste the video URL into the bar. Right-click or tap and hold the bar that says "Enter Facebook video link." Then click or tap Paste. If you are using a Mac that does not have a right mouse button, hold Control and click instead.

Click Download. It's the button next to the bar where you paste the URL.

Click Download video in Normal Quality or Download video in HD quality. This downloads the video in the quality you chose. Normal quality won't look as good but will take up less space. HD quality will have the best image quality but will take up more space on your device. You can find your downloaded video in the Downloads folder on your computer, or in the Gallery on your Android device, or in the Files app on your iPhone or iPad. You may see an ad pop-up. If so, just click or tap the "x" icon in the upper-right corner to close it. The video download should start immediately. On iPhone and iPad, you may need to tap Download to confirm that you want to download the video.

Using a Desktop Browser

Sign into Facebook. Go to https://www.facebook.com/ in a web browser. Log in with your username and password if you are not already logged in.

Navigate to the video you want to save. You can find videos your friends have posted on your wall or on their profile page. You can also click Reels at the top to view random reels.

Click ⋯. It's the icon with three dots in the upper-right corner of the video or post. This displays a drop-down menu.

Click Copy Link. It's in the drop-down menu that appears when your click the icon with three dots.

Paste the link in a new tab. This displays the video by itself inside your web browser.

Replace “www” in the address bar with “mbasic" and press ↵ Enter. This changes the URL to the mobile version of the Web page.

Right-click the video and click Open link in new tab. This opens the video file in a separate tab. If you are using a Mac that does not have a right mouse button, hold Control and click instead.

Right-click on the video and select Save target as or Save video as. This opens a "Save as" dialogue box. If you are using a Mac that does not have a right mouse button, hold Control and click instead.

Click Save. This saves the video to your computer. By default, your downloaded files can be found in your Downloads folder. If you want to save the video to somewhere other than your Downloads folder, you can do so by clicking the folder you want to save the video to in the dialogue box. If you want to enter a more recognizable file name for the video, you can enter the file name of your choice next to "Filename" or "Name." Alternatively, if you have desktop tools, such as 4K Video Downloader, which allow you to download YouTube videos, you may be able to use it to download Facebook videos as well.

Using Android

Open the Facebook app. Tap the Facebook icon in your Apps menu or on your Home screen to open Facebook. Log in with your username and password if you are not already logged in. This method should work on most Android phones and tablets. If it doesn't work on your Android model, you can use Fdown.net. The "My Media - File Manager" app for iPhone is no longer available. You will need to use Fdown.net to download Facebook videos on your iPhone.

Navigate to the video you want to save. You can find videos your friends have posted on your wall or on their profile page. You can also tap the icon that resembles a TV screen to view videos on Watch.

Open an internet browser. You can use Google Chrome, Firefox, or the Internet app that comes pre-installed on most Android devices.

Paste the URL into the address bar. The address bar is at the top of most web browsers. To paste the URL, tap and hold the address bar until a small menu bar appears. Then tap Paste. Tap Go on the keyboard to open the URL in the web browser You should see the video as a single post.

Play the video. To do so, tap the play triangle in the middle of the video.

Tap and hold the center of the video. This displays a drop-down menu.

Tap Download video. This downloads the video. You can find your downloaded videos in the Gallery.

Saving Videos to Watch Later

Open Facebook. Tap the Facebook icon in your Apps menu or on your Home screen to open Facebook. If you are on a desktop computer, go to https://www.facebook.com/ in a web browser. Log in with your username and password if you are not already logged in.

Navigate to the video you want to save. You can find videos your friends have posted on your wall or on their profile page. You can also find videos in Reels or the Watch section of Facebook.

Tap ⋯. It's the icon with three dots in the upper-right corner of the video or post. On Reels, it's in the lower-right corner. This displays a pop-up menu.

Tap Save Video or Save Reel. This opens a "Save To" window that you can use to save the video.

Select a collection where you want to save the video. There are a number of Collections you can save the video to. These include "Watch Later," "Post Later," and "News." To create a new collection, tap New Collection at the top of the menu. Type a name for the collection at the top, and then select a privacy setting. Then tap Create at the bottom. Privacy settings include, "Public" for everyone to view, "Friends" for just your friends, or "Private" for just you.

Find your saved videos. When you are ready to view your saved videos, you must be online and signed into Facebook. Then use the following steps to navigate to your saved videos: Open the Facebook app Tap your profile icon (Android) or the menu icon (☰). Tap Saved Tap the collection you saved your videos to. You can also see your recently saved videos under "Most recent" at the top. Tap the video you want to play.

Saving Videos You Posted

Sign into Facebook. Go to https://www.facebook.com/ in a web browser. Log in with your username and password if you are not already logged in. You cannot download and save Reels. You can only save videos you posted to your account. The mobile app doesn't allow you to save videos that you have posted. You can only do it using a web browser on a computer.

Navigate to the video you want to download. Use the following steps to do so. Click your profile picture in the upper-left corner. Click your name at the top of the drop-down menu. Click the Videos tab at the top of the page. Click Your Videos.

Play the video you want to download. To do so, simply click the thumbnail image of the video you want to download.

Click ⋯. It's the button with three dots in the upper-right corner of the comments section to the right. It's next to your username and profile. This displays a menu.

Click Download Video. This downloads the video as an MP4 file. You can find your downloaded files in your Downloads folder by default.
