Breeding a Humbug
Obtain some parent monsters. The best parents to breed a Humbug are a Quarrister and one triple-element monster. Some potential combinations are Quarrister and Clamble, Thumpies, PomPom, or Reedling. This is also the best combination if you're trying to breed a Rare Humbug unless you already have a Humbug. There is about a 1% chance of successfully breeding a Humbug. If you breed for a Humbug 70 times, you have about a 50% chance of successfully breeding one. If you do 690 breeding attempts, you will have a 99.9% chance of getting at least one Humbug. During a Breeding Bonanza, this chance is increased to 500% to 1000%.
Level the parents to level 4. Monsters must be at least level 4 to breed, so level up your parent monsters if they're not already at least level 4.
Upgrade your Breeding Structures if you wish. While not necessary, you can upgrade your Breeding Structures to reduce breeding times by 25%. You can upgrade your structure by spending 25 diamonds. You can also add Wishing Torches around your Breeding Structure to help increase the odds of a rare monster being bred. Wishing Torches can be lit for 24 hours by paying 2 diamonds or be lit permanently by paying 100 diamonds.
Breed the parent monsters on Earth Island. Once you're ready to breed your monsters, put them in the Breeding Structure. A Humbug egg is furry with green and dark green stripes, similar to a Humbug. To get a Rare Humbug, you'll need to wait until a breeding window opens up. There are some promotions and events where all Rares of a certain element are available.
Wait for your Humbug to hatch. By default, a Humbug egg takes 1 day and 12 hours to hatch. However, if you've got enhanced Breeding Structures, it will hatch in 1 day and 3 hours.
Why can't I breed a Humbug?
Humbugs are incredibly rare. The chance of getting a Humbug is very low, even if you're using the best parents. Try waiting for a Breeding Bonanza for a better chance at getting a Humbug.
You're not on Earth Island. You can only breed a Humbug on Earth Island. Make sure your parent monsters are on Earth Island before you try breeding them.
You're using the same combination of parents over and over. While this isn't confirmed, some users have superstitions that using the same combo of parents to breed a Monster is unlucky. Since you can breed a Quarrister with any Triple-Element Monster to get a Humbug, try switching up the other parent. The best choices to breed with Quarrister are Clamble, Thumpies, PomPom, and Reedling.
