Using Water and Food Coloring
Measure a teaspoon of water in a sandwich bag.
Carefully drop the food coloring into the water.
Add the rice or pasta into the bag.
Zip the bag or securely tie it. Shake and "mush" the rice or pasta into the food coloring water. Make sure that everything gets mixed in.
Shake it on a wax paper lined baking sheet. You may use a paper plate instead of a baking sheet. Spread the rice or pasta around to avoid clumps.
Let the mixture dry for 30 minutes before using.
Using Vinegar or Hand Sanitizer
Place 2 tablespoons of vinegar or hand sanitizer into a small resealable bag.
Add as many drops of food coloring as you want.
Add the rice or pasta.
Seal the bag. Massage it for a bit.
Place the bag on a plate or baking tray lined with wax paper or paper towels.
Leave to dry for at least 2 hours or overnight. Once dried, use for craft or art projects.
