London: Tim Sherwood's first game in full charge of Tottenham ended in disappointment as Emmanuel Adebayor's error gifted West Bromwich a 1-1 draw in the Premier League on Thursday.
Within two minutes of Christian Eriksen putting Tottenham ahead, Adebayor miscued Morgan Amalfitano's cross and Jonas Olsson tapped in easily from close range to equalize in the 38th minute.
The draw saw Tottenham drop to eighth place, while West Brom is 15th, a point above the relegation zone. Sherwood was hired on an 18-month contract to replace Andre Villas-Boas on Monday after two games in temporary charge, including a 3-2 victory at Southampton in the league last weekend.
In Norwich, A late goal by Scott Parker gave Fulham a come-from-behind 2-1 win at Norwich on Thursday for only the team's second league win in 10 games.
Gary Hooper's deflected shot had put Norwich ahead in the 13th minute but Pajtim Kasami levelled in the 33rd minute with a low free kick and Parker completed the comeback when he ran on to a loose ball in the 87th and hammered an unstoppable drive past goalkeeper John Ruddy.
It was a much-needed win for Rene Meulensteen's side, which remains in the relegation zone on goal difference. Norwich is now just three points above the drop.
In Cardiff, manager Malky Mackay was back on the hot seat after his side was thumped by Southampton 3-0 in the English Premier League on Thursday. A pair by Jay Rodriguez and another by Rickie Lambert, all in the first half hour, helped Southampton cruise to their first victory in seven games.
Fans of the visitors chanted to Mackay, "You're getting sacked in the morning," and he couldn't defend himself in the face of a woeful display. Cardiff owner Vincent Tan wanted Mackay out last week, but after Mackay vowed to stay and was backed by team fans, club chairman Mehmet Dalman said on Sunday that Mackay was "in charge for the forseeable future."
In Birmingham, Crystal Palace earned only their second away victory in the English Premier League when substitute Dwight Gayle scored in injury time to beat Aston Villa 1-0 on Thursday.
Gayle, sent on with about 25 minutes to go, attacked from the left side, dribbled around Fabian Delph and unloaded into the top corner, stunning everyone.
Villa made most of the running but struggled to put a threatening shot on target, while Palace was scary on the counter. Villa, walking off to boos, slumped to a fourth straight defeat.
