Madrid: Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is convinced he has Cristiano Ronaldo's commitment to a new contract. According to Marca, Ronaldo has agreed to pen a new deal to 2018 worth 17 million-euro-a-year (net), which would see him earn a clear 1 million-euro-a-year more than Barcelona ace Lionel Messi. Ronaldo also will maintain 60 per cent of his image rights.
It's suggested the agreement was struck a month ago in a private meeting between Ronaldo and Perez. The player's agent, Jorge Mendes, and Real chief Jose Angel Sanchez were also present. "Clearly there are now better feelings between them," said one source.
Real intend to announce the new agreement before the season kicks off on August 17. However, when asked about the report, Ronaldo denied any such agreement earlier this week.
