Madrid: Atletico Madrid coach Gregorio Manzano has confirmed that Diego Forlan could join Inter within "the next few hours".
Forlan has been linked to the Serie A giants throughout the summer and is believed to be leaving Atletico for a fee in the region of 5 million euros.
Manzano was speaking to Spanish media ahead of the club's first La Liga game of the season against Osasuna on Sunday.
"[Forlan] is not in the squad because it is expected that in the next few hours, he will leave our team and join Inter," the former Sevilla tactician told reporters in his press conference.
"He did not travel to Portugal in midweek [for the Europa League tie against Vitoria] and we know why. He is in negotiations with Inter - that is public news and everyone knows how it is going."
The Uruguayan striker joined Atletico for 21 million euros from Villarreal in the summer of 2007, and has scored 95 goals for the Madrid-based side in his four years at the club.
