Hamburg: The thumping of the night came from Barcelona playing against Basel. They took complete control over the match. Messi opened the scores in the fourth minute leaving Basel stunned.
Sergi Busquets scored his 1st Champions League goal when Xavi cleverly passed making it 2-0 for Barcelona.
It was Bojan Krkic's night though. He scored the next two goals to take his team 4-0 in the game. And the last goal of the night came from Xavi. Barca sit pretty on top of Group C with three wins out of 3 games.
Stubborn resistance from Roma was ended in the 77th minute by captain John Terry. He slipped his marker and headed Frank Lampard's corner into the net. Roma who had not expected to beat the blues much less trouble them, kept up their defenses. This goal from Terry got the home crowd and coach Scolari to their feet.
The night should have ended 2-0 in Chelsea's favour but Doni reacted quickly to tip his free-kick over the bar.
Meanwhile, Liverpool's unbeaten run in the Champions League came to an end against Atletico Madrid.
The first half belonged to Liverpool. Captain Gerrard's superb pass to Robbie Keane opened the scores for reds.
However, the second half swung Atletico's way. Simao drilled home a low shot, equalling the score with 7 minutes remaining.
Atletico Madrid and Liverpool not only share points from this match, but also the lead in Group D.
Meanwhile, Seria A champions Inter Milan just about managed to win against Anorthosis Famagusta from Cyprus. The only goal scored off an Adriano header in the 43rd minute.
Greek club Panathinaikos drew their match against Weder Bremen. PSV Eindhoven won their match 2-0.
