Manchester: Carlos Tevez kept champion Manchester City in touch with English Premier League leader Chelsea by settling a dour clash with Swansea with the only goal on Saturday. City escaped with a 1-0 victory despite another performance that will raise more questions over the side's lack of dynamism this season after it lost at Ajax in the Champions League during the week.
City's second clean sheet of the season came after goalkeeper Joe Hart saved twice from Michu before Tevez broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute with a stunning strike from 25 yards. The game ran to 12 minutes of injury time after lengthy stoppages for injuries to Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm and Swansea defender Micah Richards.
City is a point behind Chelsea, which hosts Manchester United on Sunday.
