New Delhi: AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has revealed David Beckham may stay until June 2009 and he has defended Alberto Gilardino's handball goal against Palermo on Sunday night.
Galliani has spoken of the Beckham move and he has hinted that the English midfielder may stay on until June 2009 rather than until March.
Reports had claimed it was going to be a short-term loan move but Galliani has other ideas.
"Beckham's contract? I need to speak with our lawyers, but maybe he will sign a contract until 30 June," Galliani told Sky Sport 24.
The chief then turned his attentions to Fiorentina's controversial win over Palermo and he has defended Gilardino.
The Viola ran out comfortable 3-1 winners over the Sicilians following Gila's double strike as well as Adrian Mutu's second half goal.
One of the Italian striker's goals was suspicious as he helped the ball over the line with his arm. The incident has caused fury in Palermo but not everyone believes Gilardino meant to score with his hand and Galliani has jumped to his defence.
"It's not the end of the world just a minor sin not a mortal one," Galliani said.
"He certainly used his fist but most probably it was an involuntary movement as he fell towards the ground.
"I know Alberto and he is a very honest and clean player. I don't really think he did it out of spite."
Fiorentina's win saw them move to joint second with Milan. Galliani will be hoping Gila doesn't get a ban as it would effect La Viola's chances of beating the Rossoneri's bitter rivals Inter when the two teams meet this Wednesday.
