Full time: Goals from Elano Blumer and Bernard Mendy gave Chennaiyin FC 2-1 win over Kerala Blasters FC. Iain Hume scored the equaliser for for Kerala Blasters FC in the 50th minute but a stunning a strike from Mendy gave Chennai the victory.

60 minute: Kerala Blasters FC picked up the pace after the goal from Iain Hume in the 50th min. Balwant and Elano once again made a quick move in Kerala's half but Balwant's cross to Elano was blocked by Kerala defenders. Chennaiyin FC 1-1 Kerala Blasters FC.
50 minute: Goal! Iain Hume scores the equaliser for for Kerala Blasters FC in the 50th minute. Birthday boy Nirmal Chettri took the initial header and Hume made the perfect finish to bring Kerala Blasters back in the game. It's 1-1 now.
Half-time: Chennaiyin FC were leading 1-0 against Kerala Blasters FC after Elano scored through a penalty early in the half. Both the teams had almost equal possession of the ball but Balwant Singh and Elano gave Chennaiyin FC the edge with their quick play at the front. Kerala Blasters created 2-3 good chances but they were not able to convert those chances into goal. They almost scored the equaliser in the 25th minute but a great defending from Chennaiyin FC denied them the opportunity. Gurwinder Singh and S Mendoza and Mehtab Hossain received yellow cards in the first half.
After kicking off their campaign with an away win against FC Goa, Chennaiyin FC will be looking for an encore when they take on Kerala Blasters FC in the their first home match.
While Chennaiyin will look to consolidate their position in the points table, Kerala Blasters FC will be seeking their first points in the competition in the 'South Indian' derby at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
