London: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has once again refused to name any particular players ahead of the new season, reports premiershiptalk.com.

However, he reiterated that the club are working very hard to strengthen ahead of this summer's transfer deadline. The Gunners struggled to finish in fourth place last season, requiring a ten-match unbeaten run to pass north London rivals Tottenham at the end of the season.

Now, supporters are growing ever more impatient with the club's eight year trophy drought, but Wenger insists the club will not discuss its target in public.

"I don't understand this kind of thinking and I wouldn't like to talk openly about negotiations because that is not my target in the press conference," Wenger told reporters regarding the club's transfer policy and efforts.

"I can just repeat what I said earlier: until the 31st, which is one month in front of us, we will work very hard to strengthen our squad without naming any specific names because I don't believe that will make negotiations easier. After that, you can make all kinds of thinking about the prices of the players."

The Gunners have only brought one player to the Emirates Stadium this summer. Yaya Sanogo, a young French striker, joined the club on a free transfer, and will be looking to link up with strikers Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud.

Arsenal's Premier League season kicks off on the 17th of August with a home fixture against last year's relegation candidates Aston Villa.
