New Delhi: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Tuesday suspended four teams -- Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh -- from the sub-junior national championship 2015-16 for including players who were over-aged.

"As per the recent initiative of AIFF to curb age cheating, a two-member team including a doctor, was sent to each venue of the ongoing sub-junior national football championship," AIFF said in a release.

According to the investigation that was carried out by the team, one player from each of the four teams was found to be over-aged following independent medical tests.

As per the regulations, the sides were disqualified in line with AIFF’s zero-tolerance policy on age cheating.

Other disciplinary actions will be initiated as per applicable AIFF regulations.
