Actor Sanya Malhotra, who had her film, Mrs screened at the 15th edition of Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, also celebrated Indian fashion in Australia.
In one of the many styles adorned by the multi-faceted actress, Sanya’s golden saree moment was beautifully captured in a luminous North meets South creative sentiment. Sanya draped a Shanti Banaras vintage saree and paired it with a sculpted corset made out of solidified traditional Kanjeevaram, designed by Same Sisters.
Embracing global trends with Indian couture, Sanya’s ensemble featured a delightful corset blouse paired with a vintage saree. The Shanti Banaras saree is a delicate interplay of golden and silver threads, woven meticulously into a classic Banarasi tissue saree that captures the essence of heritage in its soft, shimmering drape.
Blending the modernity from the west with the traditional intricacies of India, was Sanya’s celebrity stylist Manish Melwani. Describing the creative styling, on her Instagram, Manisha shares, “Chaat Couture, an Indian street food comprising a mixture of all things flavourful to create a splash on your taste buds would literally be what this look is to me. I’ve always wanted to add a touch of tradition to the ever dynamic global trends that set forward in the fashion landscape. Here’s our take to a sculpted corset made out of a solidified traditional Kanjeevaram.”
She further adds, “This look amalgamates not just the west with India but also the weaves from southern Indian and of Varanasi.”
In a series of images, captured against the graffiti walls in an alley of Melbourne by photographer Keenan, Sanya’s contemporary Indian ensemble glimmered as the sun went down. Sanya completed her elegant look with a pair of old school Sahara earrings from Shri Paramani Jewels. Celebrating Sanya and accentuating her personality with their styling expertise, Manisha and Bidipto Das, have definitely made this look the couture flavour of the month.
Adding magic to her hair and makeup was Natasha Mathias Dsouza who styled Sanya’s hair which featured an intricate flower designed hair bun from Kavya Potluri. The couture jewellery brand has been making waves for their accessories celebrating tradition with modern aesthetics.
