Shilpa Shetty Has A Message For Raj Kundra: 'I Want My Husband To Know I'm Not...' | Exclusive
Shilpa Shetty Kundra lauds husband Raj Kundra for encouraging her to multitask. She also reveals the reason behind her sporadic appearance in films.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra began her career 30 years back with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer Baazigar (1993). In 2009, she tied the knot with businessman Raj Kundra and gave birth to their son in 2012. In 2020, she had a daughter via surrogacy. In the last two decades, she has forayed into entrepreneurship by launching a fitness app and yoga DVDs. She has also authored two books, The Great Indian Diet and The Diary Of A Domestic Diva.

While she was away from the screens between 2007 and 2021 and used that hiatus to focus on her family life, Shilpa believes that she has managed to strike a successful balance between her personal and professional life over the years even though she admits that there are times when it gets difficult to juggle so many hats.

In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, she says that she attributes her work-life balance to her husband, who has been her pillar of strength throughout these years. “I think I’m able to do so much because I’ve that encouragement from my husband and the people around me. I also have been brought up in a home where I’ve seen my mum work all the time. So, that sense of work ethic, respect and the whole value system come from there where I think it’s okay to have your mum work for ten hours and you only get to see her on weekends,” she states.

She speaks highly of the way she and her sister, reality show star Shamity Shetty, has been brought up and wishes to pass on the same values to her three-and-a-half year old daughter, Samisha. “That became a way of life for us and Shamita and I turned out fine. We’re women who’re independent and I’m very proud of that. I’ve a daughter today and I want her to be the same,” Shilpa shares.

Heaping praise on Raj’s family, she adds, “I’m really lucky. I’m blessed with a great set of in-laws who love me, are extremely proud of my achievements. In fact, they’re the most excited for Sukhee because I’m playing a Punjabi woman in it (laughs).”

The actor, who is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Sukhee, goes on to tell us that women often deal with having an identity of their own post marriage but she always had it clear in her mind to not depend on anybody and call her own shots even after being a wife. “I want my husband to know that I’m not dependent on him. I want the whole world to know that you can have your own identity even after marriage,” avers the Life in A Metro (2007) and Dhadkan (2007) star.

But what about her sporadic appearance on the big screen in the recent times? “I’ve never stopped working. I choose what I want to work on. Today, my biggest achievement is that I’m still relevant even beyond my films. That makes me very happy and proud as a woman,” points out the 48-year-old.
