Army College of Dental Sciences (ACDS)
This college started in 2001 with an annual enrollment of 40 students for UG courses. In 2008, ACDS was permitted to start an MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) course in 3 clinical specialities. This institution is affiliated with the Telangana State Kaloji Narayan Rao University of Health Sciences, Warangal. ACDS is recognised to conduct Undergraduate & Post Graduate courses by the Dental Council of India and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi.
Admissions
BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery)
The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree course offers on-the-job training and experience in diagnosing and treating dental ailments. ACDS offers admission in BDS to 40 students every year based on merit obtained in the NEET (UG) examination. During the first three years of this course, an experienced team of doctors teaches students all major subjects. In the speciality dental hospital of ACDS, the candidates are trained in basic dental procedures such as fillings, root canals, scaling, and delivering crowns and dentures. They are also taught the extraction of teeth during their third and fourth year. The BDS degree is awarded on the successful completion of the four-year academic education and the in-house one-year mandatory internship program.
MDS (Master of Dental Surgery)
ACDS also has a Master in Dental Surgery (MDS) degree in six main dental specialities. These are- Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Periodontics, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, and Pediatric Dentistry. The residents are trained in their respective fields and emerge as expert specialists.
ACDS is counted as one of the top dental colleges in India with a ranking on the National Institutional Ranking Framework- 30/2021.
