The National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar will commence the registration process for the National Entrance Screening Test (NEST 2024) today, March 20. Candidates willing to apply for the exam can do so by visiting the official website of NEST at nestexam.in. The deadline to fill up the NEST 2024 application is May 31.
According to the official notification by the NISER, the exam will take place to fill a total of 200 seats for Integrated MSc programmes in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. As per the notification, the NEST 2024 admit card will be published by June 15 and the NEST exams will be conducted on June 30. The result will be announced on July 10, 2024.
NEST 2024: Eligibility Criteria
Age limit: Candidates falling under the General or Other Backward Class (OBC) category must have been born on or after August 1, 2003, whereas candidates from the reserved category will be eligible for a maximum 5-year relaxation.
Educational Qualification: Applicants should have completed Class 12 or equivalent in 2022, and 2023 with a minimum aggregate of 60 per cent from the science stream from any recognised board. However, candidates belonging to the reserved category such as SC, ST and Divyang candidates should have obtained at least 55 per cent in their Class 12 exam.
Nest 2024: Application Fee
Female applicants and candidates belonging to the SC, ST, Divyangjan category are required to pay an application fee of Rs 700 at the time of registration. However, male, other applicants in the General, Other Backward Class (OBC) category will have to pay Rs 1400.
NEST 2024: Exam pattern
The National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) 2024 exam is scheduled to take place in 120 cities across India. The NEST 2024 paper consists of objective-type questions, totaling 68 in all. The examination duration is 3 hours, with a total of 200 marks allotted. The NEST exam is divided into four sections: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Each correct answer in Multiple Selection Questions (MSQs) will earn applicants 4 marks, while there is a penalty of 1 mark for each incorrect answer.
