Meet Neha Rajput, Who Cleared UPSC While Working As A Doctor
She has now cleared the civil services examination 2024 by securing AIR 51.

Union Public Service Commission holds the most coveted and difficult exam in India, that is the civil service examination. Despite the tremendous difficulty level of the examination, the candidates leave no stone unturned to attempt it. One of these candidates is Dr Neha Rajput. What makes 26-year-old Dr Neha’s journey inspiring is the fact that she prepared for the civil services examination while working as a doctor. She was employed as a doctor at the King Edward Memorial Hospital for 6 years. She has now cleared the civil services examination 2024 by securing the All India 51st rank. Neha hails from Jalgaon, Maharashtra.

Neha secured admission to the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) in 2016. She completed his studies at KEM Hospital and Medical College managed by BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) in Parel. After securing an MBBS degree and pursuing an internship, Dr Rajput was posted in the forensic department.

In an interview with a media portal, Dr Neha Rajput said that she developed a profound passion for healing while treating patients. The Jalgaon-based native soon realised that the impact she wanted to create should go far beyond these personal interactions. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she felt that something should be done that would give her the satisfaction of working and helping people on a large scale. This prompted her to pursue the idea of becoming a civil servant. She said that as soon as her internship in the medical field ended, she started preparing for UPSC CSE.

Despite her difficult medical studies, Dr Neha Rajput started preparing for UPSC with unwavering determination. Considering the paucity of time, she opted for a tablet course instead of conventional coaching methods. She opted for Anthropology as her optional subject, which was helpful as it was related to her course, that is medical science. In her quest to clear the UPSC exam, she got immense support from her family, friends and other colleagues.

Dr Neha Rajput said that for an IAS officer, there should be diversity and power in decision-making. After her training, she said that she wished to work in the health sector.
