Meet Akanksha Singh, The Assistant Professor From Ranchi Who Cracked UPSC With AIR 44
Akanksha Singh stated that in her first four attempts, she couldn’t even clear the prelims.

Many candidates from Jharkhand have passed the UPSC exam with flying colours. One such candidate is Akanksha Singh from Ranchi. She secured an All India Rank of 44. Akanksha cracked the toughest exam in the country on her fifth attempt. Despite failing for four consecutive times she never lost hope. In an interview with Local 18, Akanksha said that she is presently working as an assistant professor at the SS Memorial College, Ranchi. She further mentioned that she hardly had time to study after her job. Fighting against all odds, she managed to dedicate 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours after returning from college for her own preparations. With 8 hours of study, she managed to crack the exam with flying colours.

Talking about her earlier studies, Akanksha mentioned that she did her schooling from Rajendra Vidyalaya, Jamshedpur. She then moved to Delhi to pursue her higher studies. She did her graduation from Miranda House – Delhi University and her post-graduation and MPhil from Jawaharlal Nehru University. She also mentioned that she is presently pursuing her PhD.

Akanksha Singh also said that the inspiration behind the success is her father. She mentioned that her father worked as a Joint Secretary in the Welfare Department of Jharkhand. Seeing her father, she got the inspiration of joining the administrative department.

She further stated that in her first four attempts, she couldn’t even clear the prelims of the exam. She then analysed her mistakes with a full focus on the prelims. As she taught Geography in the college, she took Geography as her optional paper in the exam which helped her to achieve her goal.

Despite failing several times, she kept on striving for success. In the interview, she mentioned that taking small breaks in between studies is very important as it freshens up the mind. Akanksha said that the most important thing for success is to believe in yourself. She mentioned that an aspirant needs to put more pressure on the weaknesses and then only the person can succeed.
