Kendriya Vidyalaya: Its Types And How To Get Admission

Government schools in the country aim to provide the best quality education for children. Kendriya Vidyalaya remains one of the top institutes for high-quality education. Parents aim to get their children admitted to the Kendriya Vidyalaya every year. Lakhs of students apply to the Kendriya Vidyalaya. The registration process for class 1, closed on April 15, 2024. The first list of KVS Class 1 Admission was scheduled to be released on April 22. The date was postponed. The list will be updated at the official website https://kvsangathan.nic.in/

Getting admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya is not an easy task. There are four types of Kendriya Vidyalayas in India. These are Kendriya Vidyalaya under the civil sector, Kendriya Vidyalaya under the Defense Sector, Kendriya Vidyalaya under the project sector, and Kendriya Vidyalaya under the IHL Sector, that is, Institute of Higher Learning. Parents have to mention the branch they want their children to get admitted into. There are many parameters the students have to meet to get admission in their desired Kendriya Vidyalaya. Distance of the Vidyalaya from home, occupations, and income of parents are some of them.

Candidates can opt for three schools while filling out their applications. The choices get considered separately. They can select up to three branches in ‘school 1’, ‘school 2’, and ‘school 3’. Choosing for less than three branches is also allowed. While filling out the application, one has to choose the state that is mandatory. Every school will fall under the previously mentioned four categories.

During the filling out of applications, the area of the school, sponsoring agency, and location of the schools along with a static map, will be displayed on the screen. There are special relaxations and opportunities available for students belonging to the SC, ST. OBC, EWS, BPL categories. These students will get admission under the RTE in the Kendriya Vidyalaya.

Kendriya Vidyalayas will maintain a fixed number of admissions. A maximum number of 40 children will be admitted till June 30 after the publication of CBSE results. The principal will have the provision to admit a maximum of 45 students till November 30 whose parents are working in the Civil and Defence Sectors. Candidates coming from parents working in Projects and Higher Institutions will be treated the same.

For children coming from parents who are transferred or retired from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, after the current academic registration process of KVS, the principal will have the power to admit a maximum of 30 students.
