In the world we live in, success is often measured by titles and accolades. It is the story of one such ‘IIT dropout’ IDES officer, who also left BITS Pilani midway and secured an All India Rank 38 in the UPSC. But, the most shocking turn was when he decided to resign from his job after several years of service. The officer here that we are talking about is Gaurav Kaushal.

Gaurav now runs a mentorship program that reaches thousands of people through his YouTube channel. The YouTube channel provides free guidance, motivation and inspiration to students and youngsters for various competitive exams like UPSC CSE.

He also launched an app named Gaurav Kaushal, where he provides personal guidance. The app provides guidance and mentorship for the UPSC IAS prelims and mains exam. The aspirants can also access free content like important sessions, previous year question (PYQ) papers, syllabus, useful resources from current affairs, books etc. The platform provides the best and high-quality content for all their competitive exams.

Gaurav Kaushal was born and brought up in Panchkula, Haryana. He has been a promising student since childhood. He took admission to IIT Delhi after passing the JEE exam. After a few days, he realised that the path that was set for him was not the one he wanted to follow. He left IIT and started doing BTech in Computer Science at BITS Pilani. Later, he left this too and completed his degree from Punjab Engineering College.

The urge to overcome challenges is what motivated Gaurav to crack the UPSC exam. He secured AIR 38 in the UPSC exam in the year 2012. He was appointed to the Indian Defence Estate Service (IDES), which involved managing military land across the country. For 12 years, Gaurav served with distinction, yet something remained unfulfilled within him. In a move that surprised many, he resigned from the job to mentor the next generation of UPSC aspirants.

Now, he runs a mentorship program on his YouTube channel and also launched an app named Gaurav Kaushal. His life story is a testament to the idea that success does not mean being satisfied with what the world considers prestigious, but constantly seeking personal satisfaction.
