In one of the most memorable individual batting display in T20 World Cup history, India captain Rohit Sharma blazed away to 92 off 41 against Australia in Saint Lucia on Monday. Rohit broke several records during his highly entertaining knock that set the base for India’s 205/5 in 20 overs.
Rohit completed his half-century inside the Powerplay overs itself which including a loot of 29 runs in an over of Mitchell Starc.

Rohit struck seven fours and eight sixes during his breathtaking assault. And he thus broke the record for the most sixes hit by an Indian batter in a T20 World Cup innings, surpassing the earlier record of Yuvraj Singh (7 sixes vs England).
A host of former cricketers including the legendary Sachin Tendulkar took to social media to hail Rohit’s innings.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan termed the innings as “payback” for the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

India qualified for the Super 8 stage after winning three of their four matches of the first round with one being abandoned due to wet outfield. They started their campaign with a comfortable win over Ireland before beating Pakistan by six runs in a thrilling contest.
