After kicking off his international career on a promising note, Sai Sudharsan has now enthralled everyone with his incredible athleticism during ODI against South Africa on Thursday. The incident took place in the 33rd over of the South Africa innings at Boland Park in Paarl. Avesh Khan’s delivery outside the off stump had some extra bounce that surprised Heinrich Klaasen and he failed to time his shot properly. Sudharsan, who was positioned in the mid-off region, ran forward and then pulled off a sensational dive to complete the catch. Sudharsan’s spectacular fielding sent Klaasen back to the dressing room.

A fan felt that Sai Sudharsan’s catch was a “turning point” in the match against the Proteas.
Turning point! Klassen was a huge wicket.— Sunderdeep – Volklub (@volklub) December 21, 2023
Sudharsan made his international debut against South Africa in the opening ODI. He played a fine knock of unbeaten 55 in that fixture to earn a much-needed lead for his side in the series. The 22-year-old scored another half-century against the Proteas in the next ODI. He had scored 62 in that game. Sudharsan’s batting efforts, however, went in vain as India had to concede an eight-wicket defeat in that match at St George’s Park in Gqeberha.
Coming back to the third ODI, batting first, India posted a formidable total of 296. Sanju Samson produced an impressive knock of 108 to guide his side to a defendable score. During the run chase, the hosts were bowled out for 218.
Arshdeep Singh picked up four wickets in the match to clinch a resounding 78-run victory for his side. The left-arm pacer was also named player of the series having bagged 10 wickets against the Proteas in three ODIs. Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar claimed two wickets each in the third ODI to seal the series for India.
