Young India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has had a dream in international cricket so far in 2024. Having featured in 13 matches, the Indian opening batter has managed to establish himself as the highest run scorer of the year across all three formats of the game. Jaiswal has till now notched 1023 international runs at an average of 63.93 this year. His strike rate in this year’s international cricket has also been an impressive 94.54.
It has certainly proved to be an incredible year for Jaiswal who just made his debut in international cricket in 2023. Jaiswal’s Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals recently took note of the southpaw’s stunning achievement and shared an emotional post on X (formerly Twitter).
The video shared by Rajasthan Royals perfectly captured Yashasvi Jaiswal’s journey from playing age-group cricket to donning Team India’s jersey. “Iss saal ka leading run scorer hoon main, [I am the leading run-scorer of the year],” read the caption of the post shared by the Rajasthan-based franchise on X.

Despite his stellar form, Yashasvi Jaiswal did not get a chance to represent India’s T20 World Cup-winning squad. The omission, however, hardly left any impact on Jaiswal’s performance. In his first game following the completion of the T20 World Cup, Jaiswal produced a fine knock of 36 off 27 balls in the third T20I against Zimbabwe. His knock had comprised four fours and two sixes.
In the next game, Yashasvi Jaiswal went on to play an unbeaten knock of 93 off 53 balls. He had hit 13 boundaries and two sixes to guide India to a resounding 10-wicket victory to earn an unassailable 3-1 lead for the visitors.
After the match, Yashasvi Jaiswal took some questions from Indian fans who were present at the Harare Sports Club. When asked about managing to maintain his form despite not playing any competitive cricket since IPL 2024, Jaiswal responded by saying, “I enjoyed my process and being a part of the World Cup champion team and I learnt a lot. I was really excited. Whenever I get a chance I try my best and make sure that I am contributing for the team and winning the games for my team.”
