David Warner added another feather to his glorious cap as he walked out to bat in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne on Tuesday. After getting dropped for 2 at the start of the innings, the left-hand opening batter went on to accumulate 38 runs off 83 deliveries before falling prey to Agha Salman. He may have missed out on a fifty at the MCG but got altered the record books of Australian cricket.
With the help of his 38-run knock, Warner surpassed former captain Steve Waugh in terms of scoring the most number of runs in men’s international cricket for Australia. With a total of 18,502 runs, Warner is currently the second-highest Aussie run-getter, only after Ricky Ponting who retired with 27,368 runs to his credit.
Warner is ahead of the likes of Waugh (18,496), Allan Border (17,698) and Michael Clarke (17,112).

Shafique drops Warner for 2
It was just the second over of Shaheen Shah Afridi when Pakistan had a great chance of getting an early breakthrough. The left-arm quick had bowled it at a good length, squaring up Warner with the nip. The Aussie opener edged it straight to Shafique at the first slip but he dropped the dolly as the ball popped out of his hands.

Pakistan won toss
Earlier, Pakistan captain Shan Masood won the toss and opted to bowl in the second Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Tuesday. The visitors preferred Mohammad Nawaz to keep wicket ahead of Sarfaraz Ahmed while fast bowlers Mir Hamza and Hasan Ali both played after being overlooked for the first Test.
They come in for injured paceman Khurram Shahzad and Faheem Ashraf, who was axed. It means an all-pace attack led by the experienced Shaheen Shah Afridi and impressive newcomer Aamer Jamal, with no room for a specialist spinner.
Australia are looking to seal the three-Test series after thumping the visitors by 360 runs in Perth and go into the game with an unchanged side.
