Arshdeep Singh was on fire for India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, and he played a big role in helping the Men in Blue end the 11-year wait for an ICC trophy. In eight matches of the shortest format megaevent, which was played in the West Indies and USA, Arshdeep picked up 17 wickets to finish as the joint-leading wicket-taker in the tournament. The 17 wickets by Arshdeep in the T20 World Cup 2024 also helped him equal Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi’s world record of most wickets in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.
After helping India win the T20 World Cup title after a gap of 17 years, Arshdeep took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday (July 3) to share a post in which he paid rich tribute to Indian coach Rahul Dravid. Arshdeep posted a picture of him with Dravid and captioned it, “2018–2024: Thank you for everything coach saab.”
In the picture shared by Arshdeep on Instagram, he can be seen posing with the U-19 World Cup trophy on the left and the T20 World Cup trophy on the right.

Arshdeep was part of the Indian team that won the U-19 World Cup in 2018 under Dravid’s guidance. He made his T20I debut for India in July 2022 against England and, since then, has established himself as an important member of the T20I team. In 52 T20Is played so far, the 25-year-old left-arm pacer has 79 wickets to his name.
End of Dravid era
The 2024 T20 World Cup was Dravid’s last series as India head coach. He took charge of the Indian team in 2021 after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup in the UAE, and during his 31-month stint as head coach, he helped India reach new heights in all three formats of the game. Apart from taking Team India to No. 1 position in all three formats of the game, the former India captain helped Men in Blue win the Asia Cup 2023 and reach the final of the 2023 World Test Championship and the 2023 ODI World Cup before finally ending the 11-year wait for an ICC trophy in his last assignment.
A new head coach will take charge of the Indian team on the Sri Lanka tour later this month.
