After securing the ODI series in style, Sri Lanka thumped Zimbabwe in the opening T20I game, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match assignment. A victory in the upcoming clash will help the Islanders close out the series.
The 2nd T20I between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe is slated to be held at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on January 16, with the on-field developments starting at 7 PM IST. Zimbabwe will aim to make a strong statement in the T20I series after losing the ODI leg of the tour.
The Zimbabwe batting department looked quite pale in the previous game. Except for captain Sikandar Raza’s 42-ball 62, no batter could produce anything significant, with the tourists wrapping up their innings at 143 runs, losing 5 wickets in 20 overs.
Sri Lanka also faced a collapse early on as they went on to lose four wickets for just 51 runs. Veteran all-rounder Angelo Matthews, who had just made a return to T20I cricket, turned the tables with a quickfire 46-run knock. Dasun Sanaka did the rest, registering an unbeaten 26 as Sri Lanka completed the chase in the last ball.
