Team India is prepping for the Boxing Day Test against South Africa, starting December 26. The veterans, like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, return to action for the first time since the World Cup as the visitors look to get their first series win in Rainbow Nation. Ahead of the series, a few members of the Indian Cricket Team went for a wildlife safari and shared the photos and videos on Instagram
Young batter Shubman Gill shared the photos of wild animals, like lion and rhinoceros, he saw during the safari. In one of the photos, he could be seen posing alongside the Indian coaches – the trio of Rahul Dravid, Paras Mhambrey and Vikram Rathour, with a giant rhino.

Gavaskar picks Gill at No. 3
Batting legend Sunil Gavaskar has picked Shubman Gill’s at No. 3 in India’s playing XI for the Boxing Day Test. In the absence of Chetetshwar Pujara, Gill can bat first down followed by former captain Virat Kohli at No. 4
“My playing XI is gonna be very simple. The openers will be Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma – the captain. No.3 Shubman Gill, No.4 – Kohli, No. 5 KL Rahul and No.6 Shreyas Iyer. 5 and 6 can move, and after that will be Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.
The wicketkeeping conundrum
After Ishan Kishan pulled himself out of the series, the toss-up will be between KL Rahul and KS Bharat. In most likelihood, Rahul will get the nod ahead of Bharat, given the form he has been.
India’s Test Squad: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Prasidh Krishna, KS Bharat (wk).
