Shah Rukh Khan didn’t hold himself from showering his love on the members of the Kolkata Knight Riders. He hugged almost every one of them and even kissed Gambhir’s forehead.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner Shah Rukh Khan was the happiest on Sunday night as his team ended the 9-year-long draught of an Indian Premier League (IPL) title. The Shreyas Iyer-led side thrashed Pat Cummins’ Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 8 wickets to win their 3^rd IPL trophy.

KKR’s last couple of title triumphs were in 2012 and 2014, under the leadership of former India opener Gautam Gambhir. Before laying their hands on the trophy for the third time, the franchise headed back to their former captain and roped him in as the mentor.

Gambhir’s return did wonders for KKR this year. They ended the league stage on the top of the points table with 9 wins and then defeated SRH twice, in the Qualifier 1 and the final, by identical margins to win the title after 9 long years.

The KKR camp was in a jovial mood after winning the IPL 2024 final. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh rushed towards the field to congratulate his players on the emphatic victory. He didn’t hold himself from showering his love on the members of the Kolkata Knight Riders. He hugged almost every one of them and even kissed Gambhir’s forehead.

After celebrating the moment with Shreyas Iyer & Co., the KKR owner also performed a victory lap at the Chepauk to thank all the spectators for their presence and support.

Big credit to Abhishek Nayar

KKR batter Venkatesh Iyer, who top-scored for the team with an unbeaten 52 off 26 balls, credited assistant coach Abhishek Nayar for working hard with the players throughout the season.

“Really happy, credit goes to Abhishek Nayar, all the credit in the world, the way he’s worked for the franchise. Some contributions go unnoticed; I want to make sure they don’t. He was the one who built this Indian core. We waited for 10 years, credit to the management and the coaching staff,” Iyer told the broadcasters.
