Prithvi Shaw scored a fine century in the Ranji Trophy match against Chhattisgarh on Friday at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur. Shaw was out of competitive cricket for the past few months due to a knee injury that he suffered during his county stint last year with Northamptonshire. The Mumbaikar had to undergo knee surgery followed by a lengthy rehabilitation process.

Shaw made a big statement in his second innings after returning with a magnificent century in the Ranji Trophy match.
The 24-year-old smashed 159 runs off 185 smashed 159 runs off 185 balls which was laced with 18 fours and three sixes. Vishvash Malik ended his stay in the middle but the Mumbaikar already caused big damage for Chhattisgarh before that.
He shared a 244-run opening stand with Bhupen Lalwani to help Mumbai stamp their authority over Chhattisgarh.
The 24-year-old has already missed two white-ball domestic tournaments – the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Before getting injured, he had mixed results with the bat. He accumulated 595 runs in ten innings in the previous Ranji Trophy season, including a record 379-run knock off 383 balls against Assam. However, his inconsistency troubled him, which eventually reflected in the IPL as well.
Before getting injured, Shaw was in sublime form in English county. He scored 429 runs in four innings, including a record-breaking 244 off 153 balls against Somerset. He injured his knee while fielding in the fixture against Durham which cut short his stint in England.
Earlier in the last match, Mohit Avasthi ran through the Bengal batting lineup, grabbing seven wickets for 52 runs as Mumbai stormed to an innings and four-run win with a bonus point in their Ranji Trophy Group B match here on Sunday.
Avasthi finished with a 10-wicket haul in the match, having taken 3/63 in Bengal’s first innings, as the hosts were bowled out for 209 in their second innings after being asked to follow-on.
A collective batting effort in the first innings had given Mumbai a formidable 412 at the start of the game, which allowed them to dominate Bengal.
