Virat Kohli has been associated with RCB in the IPL since the first edition of the cash-rich league and holds the record for scoring the most runs and 100s.

Star Indian batter Virat Kohli is the all-time leading run scorer in IPL history. The 36-year-old right-handed batter made his IPL debut in 2008 and has been associated with Royal Challengers Bengaluru since then. He is the only cricketer in IPL history to play in all 17 seasons for the same team. The former India captain was in red-hot form this year and finished as the leading run scorer in the IPL 2024. But his super show with the bat also failed to help RCB end the long wait for the first IPL title.

The Bengaluru-based franchise managed to secure a place in the playoffs by getting the better of Chennai Super Kings in the last league match, but it failed to qualify for the final and suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the eliminator match against Rajasthan Royals. He is all set to be retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auctions next year.

In the IPL, Kohli has played multiple matches against all the big teams and has scored a mountain of runs. He has 1053 runs to his name in 33 matches against CSK and has amassed a total of 855 runs in 33 IPL games against the Mumbai Indians.

But during a rapid-fire round on Star Sports, when Kohli was asked about his favourite rival, he ignored the two most successful teams in IPL history and instead picked three-time champions KKR.

“I would say KKR,” Kohli said.

Kohli made his IPL debut against the Kolkata Knight Riders in Bengaluru on April 18, 2008, during the first-ever IPL match. He has played 34 matches against the Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise so far and has 962 runs to his name.

In the IPL 2024, he twice faced the Shreyas Iyer-led side and scored 83* and 18 runs in Bengaluru and Kolkata, respectively.

Kohli was also asked about his favourite ground during the same show, and he picked M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Kohli, who top-scored for India in the T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa in Barbados on June 29, is expected to make a comeback to international cricket during the two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh in September.
