The 2024 edition of the highly-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) is inching closer with each passing day and the excitement around the nation seems to getting more and more palpable.

Ahead of the blockbuster opening game of the tournament slated to be contested between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on the 22nd of the month, the home side opened bookings for the ticket to the curtain-raiser, which promises to be a mouth-watering clash.

Team Indin bowler and Rajasthan Royals player Ravichandran Ashwin spoke about the incredible demand for tickets ahead of the highly awaited clash between MS Dhoni’s CSK and Virat Kohli’s RCB,

“Unreal ticket demand for the #CSKvRCB #IPL2024 opener at Chepauk. My kids want to the see opening ceremony and the game. @ChennaiIPL pls help,” Ashwin posted on his X handle.

Ashwin donned the famous yellow jersey between 2008 and 2015 before being picked up by Rising Pune Supergiants. The crafty spinner has been on a journeyman expedition ever since having played for Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Capitals, and Rajasthan since then.

The fixture between the two southern sides has all the ingredients of a brilliant game and will get the ball rolling in what is said to be charismatic CSK skipper and former Indian captain Dhoni’s final season.

The fact that this could be Dhoni’s swansong season adds to the hype around the game and the massive Chennai fanbase yearn to catch the game at the famous stadium in Chepauk.

Chennai lifted the title last year against Gujart Titans in the summit clash in thrilling fashion and will enter the upcoming season as holders.

RCB, on the other hand are still in search of their maiden IPL trophy, despite having been part of the money-rich T20 franchise league ever since its inception in 2008.
