MCA Issues Clarification Over Reports of Security Guards Being Hired for Mumbai Indians Home Game
Mumbai Cricket Association quashed rumours of additional police force being planned for Mumbai Indians' home game against Rajasthan Royals.

Hardik Pandya has been having facing a tough time as Mumbai Indians captain in the (IPL) Indian Premier League. His reign at MI did not get underway on a winning note, having suffered back-to-back losses in their first two games.

Facing his old team, Hardik Pandya’s MI lost to Gujarat Titans (GT) by 6 runs in their opening match and then were outclassed by Sunriers Hyderabad (SRH) by 31 runs.

With MI playing their first game on Monday, against Rajasthan Royals (RR), there has been reports that suggest fan trouble at the Wankhede Stadium. Reports also suggested that Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) have started planning steps against fans.

On Sunday, the Mumbai Cricket Association quashed these rumours of the additional police force being planned for the match on April 1.

“No instructions given for this specific game. There have been set guidelines issued by BCCI on spectators behaviour over the years, that is process that is followed” read an MCA statement.

Rohit Sharma in his 10-year-long tenure, led MI to five IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. In fact, Rohit is tied with the legendary MS Dhoni of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), for having clinched the most IPL titles as captain.

As the Indian star played his 200th game for MI, Hardik called Rohit one of the pillars of the franchise.

“You’ve been one of the pillars of this franchise who has achieved so much under your belt. Ro, you’re known for your double centuries, I’m sure this will also be special,” Hardik said.

Rohit has featured in 111 wins for Mumbai Indians, the most by any player for the franchise. He has also been the captain in 87 of those wins, again a record for the franchise. He has made 35 scores of 50+ for Mumbai Indians in the IPL, easily the most by any player for the franchise.
