The despair doesn’t end for SRH and the latest victim who took the biggest hit was none other than batter Rahul Tripathi, who was found emotional and seemingly in tears on the staircase of the pavilion after being run out in a mix-up against KKR in the Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2024.

In the 14th over, after Klaasen’s departure earlier, Tripathi got caught up in a mixed call from SRH batter Abdul Samad, who played one down backward point straight to Andre Russell but made a run for the other end blindly.

The mix-up ultimately led to an easy run out at the striker’s end by Rahmanullah Gurbaz, as Tripathi was left shellshocked.

Tripathi’s innings of 55 runs off 35 balls was peppered with 7 fours and a six, and he seemed in fine form to build on the same to lead SRH to a promising total.

But, after the confusion that transpired on the pitch, Tripathi was pictured sitting down on the stairs of the pavilion, seemingly distressed and in tears, as the batter couldn’t help but imagine what could have been.

SRH got off to a horror start after choosing to bat first against the table-toppers KKR, losing their acclaimed dangermen openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma within the first two overs of their innings, pushing them to a precarious 13-2.

In the hour of need, it was then Tripathi, who took it upon himself to take the mantle and guide SRH to safety once again.

He put up a stellar stand with the likes of Protean hard-hitter Heinrich Klaasen, notching a fine fifty partnership as SRH rose from the ashes to take control once again.

Although the wickets kept falling on the other end, with the likes of Nitish Reddy and Shahbaz Ahmed falling quickly as well, thanks to a magical over from Mitchell Starc, Tripathi kept his composure and played with some timely attacking intent to keep SRH in the hunt.

KKR on the other hand have to be commended as the table-toppers maintained their calm through the scoring streak in the middle overs, and trusted their bowlers, especially Narine, to deliver in the moments that wing the momentum of the game.
