Rahul's match-winning 82-run knock also took him past CSK wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni in the list of most 50-plus scores for a designated wicketkeeper as he reached the milestone for the 25th time in his IPL career.

LSG skipper KL Rahul’s 82-run knock against CSK at the Ekana Sports City in Lucknow on Friday led his side to a clinical 8-wicket win over the defending champions in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League.

Rahul’s match-winning half-century also took him past CSK wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni in the list of most 50-plus scores for a designated wicketkeeper as he reached the milestone for the 25th time in his IPL career.

Dhoni, who has 24 fifties in the money-rich T20 event stands second in the list followed by third-placed Quinton de Kock, who also brought up his fifty against Chennai on Friday to support his skipper very well.

RCB wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik, who has been their only shining light this season, comes in fourth on the list with 21 fifty-plus scores to his name and former player Robin Uthappa, who has managed to get across the half-century mark with a remarkable 18 times stands fifth on the list.

LSG won the toss and opted to field first against CSK as they managed to limit the holders to a score of 177 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs as Ravindra Jadeja top scored for the visitors with an unbeaten 57-run knock off 40 deliveries before Dhoni chipped in with a quickfire 28 off just 9 deliveries.

Lucknow took command of the contest thanks to a 134-run opening stand featuring Rahul and de Kock as both batters went on to post scores of over the fifty-run landmark.

The South African southpaw departed after having made 54 runs off just 43 deliveries as he fell to Mustafizur Rahman, while Rahul was dismissed by Matheesha Pathirana as Jadeja pulled off a blinder of a catch to get rid of the opposition captian.

However, the damage was already done and Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis had the easy task of putting the finishing touches on the game, which was clearly in their hands, to pick up the two points on offer.
