Team India received a grand welcome upon arriving in the country with the coveted T20 World Cup. The squad reached the Delhi airport early on July 4 and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence. Following that, the members of the triumphant unit jetted off to Mumbai and took part in a victory parade at the Marine Drive in the evening.

The BCCI also arranged a felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium where a huge crowd was present to cheer for the T20 World Cup champions. Once everything was wrapped up, India captain Rohit Sharma returned home where another surprise was waiting for him.
Upon reaching the entrance of his residence, Rohit saw some of his childhood friends, who were there to welcome the World Cup-winning skipper. They all donned a customised t-shirt featuring Rohit’s picture with the T20 World Cup title.

Once the veteran Indian opener came out of his car, his friends saluted him and went on to imitate his trophy-lifting gesture.
They all came running towards Rohit and lifted him on their shoulders. He was also felicitated with a garland.
Young Indian batter Tilak Varma was also part of the group and enjoyed every bit of the celebration.
A clip featuring the moment was shared by the official fan page of Rohit, TeamRO.
The post grabbed the eyeballs of many users, who appreciated the friends of Rohit for a beautiful welcome.
One of them commented, “His gang. This is his kingdom.”
Highlighting Rohit’s reaction, a viewer noted, “He’s just too shy man. But Rohit, you’ve earned this! WC was your obsession and finally, the trophy reached you! You’re the freaking world champion and a world cup winning captain! You deserve the whole world.”
A fan shed light on the bond between Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma and wrote, “Tilak bro is literally his family.”
Rohit wrapped up the victorious T290 World Cup campaign as the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament. After the final match in Barbados, he announced his retirement from T20Is.
